Rude, Unproffessional, Didn't live up to offer

Went sailing with Sail NZ yesterday, as a special event with a group of 5 friends over from the UK. We paid around $1500 between our group, to have a match race with the NZL40 and 41 boats, based in the Viaduct. Unfortunately, they took out equipment that they KNEW to be faulty (a "told you so" from one staff member to another when the equipment failed confirming this). We ended up spending 2 hours motoring in and out of the harbour, mucking about setting up and changing race courses, and fiddling with MORE faulty equipment (another sail hadn't been stored correctly so wasn't able to be raised). To add insult to injury, the manager claimed that we had received a two our sailing experience, and would only refund a small portion of our money. We had split our group up over the two boats, had gone there for the race, didn't get what we paid for, and then, unbelievably, denied a refund, against our clear rights under the NZ Consumer Guarantees Act. The manager, who acted very rudely towards us, clearly knew that her business does not rely on repeat custom, and felt that she could treat us with an absolute lack of respect. Would strongly recommend against any trip involving this company. They are a very bad representative of our country, to tourists.
