While the rest of Christchurch is busy putting the damage of the last earthquakes behind itself, this place has decided to happily fall apart. No one cares. The cracks and color snippets run all over it, the carpets smell awful, the showers are rusty and rotten, the mattresses sagged, windows don’t open or don’t close etc.During our stay of not even 24h, fire brigade came here no less than 3 times. No staff around, just a very drunk Irish woman knocking on doors to tell people to not throw any cigarette butts out the window! Complained in the morning to same Irish woman, watery-eyed and reeking of booze, no money back for poor night’s stay, got credit-card thrown at us, even accused of setting a palm tree on fire! The Excelsior is bad news for anyone who wants a decent stay, a good night’s sleep and friendly service for your money while visiting Christchurch. |
