Yes. Each bank charges about the same amount for using your ATM card in another banks ATM machine. These charges can be as high as NZ$1 . Most New Zealand people don't use cash. Instead almost every retailer will have a system called EFTPOS. This system uses a PIN number similar to Switch or Laser in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
